Surf lessons are with Kona Town Adventure in Kailua-Kona.
To ride a wave is probably the most fun you will legally have. Our expert instructors begin with the basics on land, covering paddling, popping up, and understanding the surf environment. Once you’re ready, you’ll head into the water to catch waves. What sets us apart is that our instructors don’t use surfboards—they swim alongside you to offer personalized assistance without the worry of an extra board in the way. Our group lessons strike the perfect balance between individual attention and teamwork, with four students per instructor. All instructors are lifeguard-certified, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
For those seeking more advanced instruction or personalized attention, we recommend a private lesson. Private lessons are ideal for surfers working on their skills, hesitant beginners, or young children who benefit from a 1-on-1 focus. Children under the age of 10 (and typically not younger than 5) are required to take private lessons for safety reasons.
